Our Philosophy

The ages between three and five are an important time in a child's life to learn cooperative behaviors and develop social skills. During this critical time, we at Southborough Village Preschool want to serve as a bridge between the home and the time when your child enters kindergarten. We provide more than just an education; we nurture while teaching.

Our integrated, hands-on, discovery-based curriculum promotes self-esteem, creativity, and social interaction skills that are crucial to the child's overall development. Our experienced teachers understand the developmental needs of the children. They consistently provide a wealth of materials and a variety of play areas, so that your child learns as s/he is active.

The thematic curriculum is designed to help children develop language, social, physical, and cognitive skills in a positive, hands-on, discovery-based setting. We recognize that working closely with parents is necessary to attain these goals.

Our School

Southborough Village Preschool has been in existence since 1994 in the center of Southborough, MA. The school operates from 8:30 am ~ 2:45 pm providing a morning and afternoon preschool program, as well as a supervised playschool at lunchtime and in the afternoon.

Each of our three classrooms has a capacity of 13 children with a teacher and an assistant teacher for an adult-to-child ratio of 1:6.5.

We believe that the preschool years are a critical time for growth and learning in socialization, allowing your child to learn to make new friends, share, cooperate, enjoy circle time and develop relationships with other significant adults. We provide a solid basis for kindergarten by observing the whole child to insure a strong foundation in all areas of development - cognitive, social, physical, emotional, and creative.

Our facility includes a large, enclosed playground which offers a variety of outdoor activities to enhance the learning environment. In addition, we offer:

  • quiet time, as well as active time
  • structured activities, as well as unstructured time to explore
  • indoor and outdoor play
  • gross motor and fine motor activities
  • the opportunity to investigate science and math, as well as creative expression in arts and music
Our aim is to provide your child with exciting and innovative materials to learn more about his/her world. A typical day begins with a circle time for sharing and small group discussion. This is followed by an hour of discovery time, which includes art, science, and math activities, as well as home-making, dress-up, and manipulatives. Next, we have snack time, music and story. Sessions end with outdoor play in our playground, which is designed to stimulate gross motor activities.
