Our School Policies
The Summer Newsletter and Parent Handbook are given to parents upon acceptance to the school and are the best sources of finding out all our school policies. A few policies will be outlined here for your benefit..
The Summer Newsletter contains such information as our Extended Day policies, tuition information, medical policy, clothing for children and faculty names and room staffing. Snow Cancellation Policy
We follow the Southborough Public Schools which is to say, if public school is cancelled then so are we. If there is a one hour delay then we have school as scheduled. If there is a two hour delay, all morning sessions are cancelled, playschool is cancelled and the afternoon class meets as regularly scheduled. The full day class begins 2 hours later at 11:15. If afternoon kindergarten is cancelled, then all afternoon programs including playschool are cancelled. The full day program will end at noon. We have reviewed the policies of several local preschools and find that we are in keeping with the norm. Our policy is based on the safety of both our students and teachers.
Preparing for Separation
Our school has a brief conference time and a shortened first day (during which adults remain) to help your child become comfortable. Before starting school we recommend that you talk about the school in positive terms. Try to drive by and point out a playground item that your child will find exciting. Discuss the possibilities of new friends and new acitivities.
Saying good-bye may be difficult for some children. Try to develop a routine. Speak to the teacher, help your child remove his/her jacket and get involved, say good-bye and leave. Generally, a fairly brief leave-taking is best. Some younger children may find it helpful to have a security blanket or animal from home to make this transition easier.
It is very important to us that children are secure and happy in our school. As your child becomes more attached to his/her teacher, separation becomes easier. If you have a concern, please talk to us. |
